Re: Email Alert Notofications

Hello Guys,

I am using custom dashboards and i have to send the alerts as an email to the respective teams. To configure this we have alert handler instance and its configured. Now to specify that only certain alerts (Important or critical ones) should hit the team members email we have no GUI settings in Configure outbound alert of the custom dashboards as the standard dashboards does in notifications. (See the image attached)

For this vmware created a emailfilter.xml file in the Analytics VM where u can modify that as per your design. My question is where can i fnd that file in analytics vm if we deployed vC Ops as an vApp? bcoz vmware says u cannot use configuration file editor for this xml file.

Notes from Vmware: See the highlited lines

A filtering rule is a set of conditions and email addresses. The vCenter Operations Manager email plug-in uses
filtering rules to send email alert notifications to the proper users based on the affected application, resource
kind, alert level, and other criteria.
You define filtering rules in the emailFilter.xml file, which is located in the vcenterops\
user\plugins\outbound\filter_alertplugin\conf directory.
If you are using the vCenter Operations Manager vApp, edit the emailFilter.xml file on the second virtual
machine.
For vCenter Operations Manager Standalone, you can edit emailFilter.xml directly or you can use the
Configuration File editor. This procedure describes how to use the Configuration File editor.
For the vCenter Operations Manager vApp, you must edit emailFilter.xml directly. You cannot use the
Configuration File editor with the vCenter Operations Manager vApp. For descriptions of the XML elements
in emailFilter.xml, see “emailFilter.xml File,” on page 82.

Any help is appreciated

Thanks
