Unable to find collection status in vrops document
Hi ,
I have seen "collection failed" and "error" while configuring adapter and its instance ,but those statuses are not defined in vmware doc .
Is this valid status or documented somewhere else .

How to edit SMTP (Standard Email Plug-In) instances in the vROPs notification settings?
Hi guys!
I was not able to find a solution anywhere.
Does anyone know how to edit the instances (SMTP configurations) of the Standard Email Plug-In in vROps notification settings?As far as I can see, I am only able to add another instance. But that seems a bit strange to me, i would like to be able to edit one i already created.
Or I may want to delete an existing configuration.

vROps API - how to retrieve properties as time series?
Hi,
Via the vRealize Ops API I’m able to retrieve the same metrics like CPU|Demand (%) as StatKeys like via the vRealize Operations Manager web user interface. I’m using vRealize Ops 6.7.
Via the web UI it is possible to request time series about properties like Summary|Parent Host. However I’m unable to retrieve this via the API. Via /suite-api/api/resources/properties?resourceId= I can get the current Parent Host of a particular virtual machine however adding time range doesn’t work.
In the documentation /suite-api/docs/rest/index.html#queryLatestPropertiesOfResources the sample response shows the statKey system|availability but when I try this or use summary|parentHost I get a HTTP 403 return code.
How does the UI retrieve these metrics? Or does the UI convert these event series to time series?

Application remote collector api admin password not workint
Hi,
I tried downloading ARC from vmware site and from VROPs portal both but in both case, i set the api admin password.
But when i put this in vrops, it does not pass the Vcenter integration test showing credentials invalid.

vSAN Adapter status show collection failed
Hi all,
We have a VDI environment running on two vCenter Server.
One is running as the vCenter Server Role of Horizon environment (VC1), and the other is created by VxRail Manager(VC2) which provide the vSAN datastore to VDI virtual machines.
We create a vRealize Operation Manager to collect the information of Horizon environment and vSAN datastore recently.
The vSphere adapter could collect both two vCenter server information and horizon adapter can collect the information from connection server.
However, the status of vSAN adapter shows "Collection Failed".
I tried reboot the vRealize Operation Manager Appliance, but when I saved the vSAN adapter settings, we get the below error message.
We are sure the credential of vSAN Adapter is correct and we can see the certificate information of the vCenter server.
Does anyone know how to solve the problem?

Previous Build Number of an ESXI in List view

I am trying to find a way to fetch a list of all ESXI that were upgraded in last 6 months. I am able to fetch the current ESXI version but i am not able to fetch the version of ESXi 6 month earlier. Any idea if we can obtain such results.

Solved: vRops - Memory Capacity/Time Remaining is not generated in Linux CentOS7/8
Hi all,
I write this post in case this can be useful for someone else.
Enviroment description:
vRops 8.0/8.1
VMware ESXi 6.7
VMware vCenter Server 6.7
Guest OS: Linux CentOS 7/8
VMware tools/Open-vm-tools version: 10.1.x – 10.3.x
Issue description:
vRops is not generating Memory Capacity Remaining or Memory Time Remaining Graph
vRops is not generating metrics: All Metrics > Capacity Analytics Generated > Memory Capacity Remaining, Memory Recommended Size or Time Remaining.
vRops is not collecting All Metrics> Guest > Page in Rate per second metric from CentOS VM Server.
Solution description:
Verify system locale configured in CentOS VM Server.
In my case, the server was configured with Spanish system locale:
# localectl
System Locale: LANG=es_ES.UTF-8
VC Keymap: es
X11 Layout: es
Change system locale to en_US.UTF-8 and restart vmtoolsd daemon.
# localectl set-locale LANG=en_US.UTF-8
# localectl
System Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8
VC Keymap: es
X11 Layout: es
# systemctl restart vmtoolsd.service
Wait until vRops starts collecting Guest|Page in Rate per second metric.
The memory capacity/time remaining graph will be generated just a few minutes later.

Windows 10 linked clone desktops reporting not receiving data from desktop agent

Windows 10 Linked Clone pools will not send data to vrealize, while a full clone will.
Is there a bug with linked clones and vrealize agent?

vROPS Tenant App for vCloud Director - enable plugin access via api or script.
Hello,
We have got vCloud 10, vRO 7.6, vROPs 8.0.1 and Tenant App 2.3.
I have to create workflow in vRO that creates Organization in vCloud (this is simple), but additional requirement is that I need to enable newly created organization in vROPS Tenant App. This is easy from GUI (just changing one switch in Tenant App ->Administration -> Access Management and change for Enable - see the printscreen below), but when it comes to create workflow I got issue.
I have not found any information how to enable organizatation in Tenant App via script or API.
Do you know how to do it?
Or maybe you have any documentation on that matter?

vRops overused license
Hi
We have vRealize Operations Manager Version 7.0.0.11287812 with 200 VM license but also that license is overused for 240 VMs.
We are planning to upgrade it to version 8.1. As we know we need to generate a new key in MyVmware portal and the change it in VRops.
- Is it possible to upgrade version 7.0 to 8.1 with already overused license, or we first need to delete overused VMs?
- Is it possible to enter new 8.1 key with overused license, or we first need to delete overused VMs?

vROps 8.0.1 Remote Collector time zone out of sync
Master / Data / Remote Collectors set to UTC except for one Remote Collector. Does cluster have to be taken offline to fix the remote collector or can the remote collector be taken offline, time zone changed, rebooted and brought back online in the cluster?

vROps/vRLI restore/recovery of a single node in a cluster
Hi Community
I have a question about the restore process of vROps and vRLI.
In the documentation I can only find hints to the restore of the whole cluster but not for a single node of a cluster.
I assume i have to deploy a new node and add it to the cluster. Or do I just restore one single node from backup?
If anyone could point me to the correct documentation or other links that describe the procedure, that would be great.

Upgrade vROPS 6.7.0 to 8.0
Hello,
We currently have vRealize Operation Manager 6.7.0.8183617 running in a 2 node cluster setup. We are wondering if it is possible to upgrade to 8.0 without loosing the already collected data. We know this was the case from version 6.0 to 6.7. Or should we setup 2 new servers? Thanks for the feedback.
I already ran vRealize Operations Manager Pre-Upgrade to 8.0.1 Assessment Tool which looks "sort of" promising.
Validating product version
Make sure to run vRealize Operations Manager - 6.6.1, 6.7, 7.0 and 7.5 Virtual Appliance upgrade, as product version is 6.7.0 Ensure product and upgrade versions meet the requirements.
Validating there are no Active Self Monitoring Alerts existing on the cluster.
2 ACTIVE alerts, ALERT_DEFINITION: 1. vRealize Operations Cluster processes may not have enough memory 2. Error synchronizing user privilege information with VMware Virtual Center

Recreate Connection vROPS8.0.1.15331180 / Vcenter 6.7.0. Build 15129973 ?
Hi all,
I am having some trouble with vCenter and vROPS and I am unable to fix this at the moment, so I need some help :-)
I have a working vROPS and I can work with it, it collects data from the Vcenter, so the account / connection seems to be correct.
But if i navigate through the vCenter ( Menu -> vRealize Opeartions ) , I am getting no content. The Output is displaying the blue/grey circle, which suggests,
that vcenter is loading some content from vROPS
Can anyone help me with this? Is there a way to "reset" the connection ?

Why vrops cannot get report from some objects

now when I want create a report "Optimization Report - Oversized Virtual Machines"
it cannot show any data for that machine such as attach pic but there is not problem for other machine just for few of them not show correctly

Where can I find a list of alertDefinitionIds for vRops?
I've been working on integrating vRops alerts with a windows client our customer uses. The idea is to monitor the vRops alerts coming in and filter it so that we only get the alerts we want. Once we find an alert with a specific alertDefinitionId I can filter the alerts based on that alertDefinitionId. I've searched the vRops UI, Googled it multiple times and I've only been able to find a list of alertDefinitionNames in vRops. I am unable to find a list of all the alertDefinitionIds which would make things a lot easier. As it is now, I have to manually sort through the list of alerts in the vRops UI and look for alerts that match what I'm looking for. Once I find them, I have to generate them with a console app and then I can programatically see what the alertDefinitionId is. This method is really slow. Can someone please tell me where I can find a list of all the alertDefinitionIds in vRops? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
