Packets dropping showing in vROps
Remote collector shutdown.
I'm curious, and have gone over the documentation but cannot see the wood for the trees now.
Within a setup where remote collectors exist, should these need to be shutdown does the cluster need to be taken offline? Given that node doesn't contain any database elements, I would think not but wondered if there was an official stand point that anyone is aware of?
vROps - Guest File Space Utilization - monitoring and customization
I've seen a few articles and posts on this before but am having a difficult time as a light user of vROps trying to get this figured out.
The problem is simple - there are some VMs in a larger environment (say 20-30 out of 800 VMs)which need an exclusion on a drive for capacity alerting purposes. These drives will always be >95% utilization with no chance that they can grow.
My first question is, can I see guest file system utilization in vROps and if so where? I can see the specific drive utilization stats in the alert but I don't see the utilization in the VM object itself. E.g. if the alert is on the E: drive, I can see the E: drive utilization in the alert, but I can't find E:, C:, D: utilization in the VM object.
Second, is there a sane way to exclude a specific drive in alerting without impacting the other drives, and other VMs in the environment. I'm assuming this has to do with groups but the only thing I've done with groups is applying a policy to it. This makes sense if I want to change the metrics of a group but I don't see how I can exclude subobjects here.
This would seem to be a really common issue so I'm guessing there is a simple solution here but for the life of me I can't find it. The posts and blogs I've seen seem to attempt to solve this problem in a few different ways but are either extremely manual and tedious, or they must be applied globally for all VMs instead of a subset.
Datastore I/O|Writes per second (IOPS) not populating for vSAN cluster
Hi all,
I am trying to view the metric "Datastore I/O|Writes per second (IOPS)" on a vSAN cluster, unfortunately the metrics are not being populated. I have confirmed this in a 6.5 and 6.6.1 cluster.
I am using a VSOM Standard license for each cluster. I am also using the MPSD, not the specific vSAN adapter instance, as we might not be licensed for the vSAN dashboards.
I can confirm the vSAN cluster in question is being monitored, there are 2 instances of the object in Inventory Explorer, one vcenter and one datastore.
Does anyone know if this metric is supposed to be populated for vSAN clusters? Or would anyone have any idea why that specific metric is not being populated for a vSAN cluster? It is not populating in either the 6.5 or 6.6.2 cluster.
"vsphere configuration limit"
Hello,
i tried to find some information about
"vsphere configuration limit"
and only stumbled over the options that i can
either enable or disable it in a policy.
Does anybody know what this resource container
under the analysis setting "stress" means?
grateful for your respond

End point Operations Management Agent + Group Process/Service Checks
Hello,
We are using end point operations agent to monitor windows services & linux processes.
As we have many servers to monitor, I would like to create the service / process groups automatically in stead of creating service check by service check
1) is this possible to automate this with tags from vCenter?
For example, tag a domain controller -> it is added automatically in a Function group and the group keeps up to date because of "keep membership up to date"
Dragging the service check to a vm in object relationships works, but still it is not updated automatically
I have tried the following :
Create a customer group "Function" based on tags.
Then in inventory explorer, I select that function, then all the vm's and then add object
Here I selected "adapter type" - "adapter instance" - "object type" (windows service) and then entered the windows service I wanted to check
After clicking ok it gives me an error "failed to create resource
Can anyone give a tip how to do this?
Cluster going offline takes too much time
Hi everyone,
I turn off the cluster in order to restart vRops but it's taking way too much time. The reason I want to restart is because the UI is so slow. Does any one had this issue before?
What would be the problem ?
---EDIT ---
After waiting for a couple of hours, the cluster shows :Cluster failed to go offline
Thank you very much.
Regards.

How to get vm belongs to which resourcepool using vrops
I want to know, a vm belongs to which resource pool uisng vrops 6.6.
I was collecting report of vms which are oversized, i got the list but same time i want to know the specific vm belongs to which resourcepool.
If anyone aware of this please help me.
How to save report from Recommended Actions view?
Is it possible to extract the data that is being used to generate the topology widget in vRealize Operations Manager?
I'm currently working on a project in work that requires me to extract data from VROps that shows the connections between VMs in our environment.
The topology widget seems to contain the information I need but it is in graphical form.
Would anyone know how I could extract this information in a tabular format?
Or even any suggestions of alternative ways to extract the information I need?
Thanks in advance
Anthony
Reports graphs show "no data"
Hi everyone,
I'm having a problem with vrops reports that include graphs. The list views present all the data but the graphs show "no data". This only happens in reports because if I go to the view itself, it generates the grap without any error. Also, during the report creation, it shows the graph with all the data. It's only during the report execution. Please find the examples attached.
Does anyone have a clue for what it may be?

Hello friends,
Can we run esxtop tool using vROps against the host and collect the logs ?
vRealize Operations Manager 6.6 Appliance Licensing Question
I using the Evaluation license of vROP 6.6 Appliance but I don't know if Standard License is enough for my following situation:-
1) A vCenter with 500 VM but I only need vROP to monitor 2 ESXi hosts which has about 25 VM, could I just get the 25 VM pack license and exclude the other ESXi hosts?
2) I only need to create Dashboard for 25 VM together for their CPU, Memory, Disk utilization for 1 month stacked graph. Is Standard License enough or do I need Enterprise since I need to alter the Dashboard to show 1 month instead of its default 7 days, and make it stacked graph instead of its default split graph????
3) Is the Collected Matrix of CPU utilization%, Memory Consumed%, Disk IOPS and Throughput considered as Normal Matrix, therefore, NOT super matrix, therefore, Standard License is enough???
4) For the Appliance version, do I need to get the per Processor license instead of the OSI license???? Is it to count the processor of my ESXi Server that has the Appliance installed or the Monitoring ESXi total processors????
vRops 6.4 create report to show per VM VMDK disk format (thick, thin)?
Hey guys, i was trying to investigate but so far been unable to do so, anyone knows if i can create a report that will show me VMDK disk format per VM in vRops 6.4?

Cluster CPU Recommended Size
Hi team, I can see an (apparently) unaccountable growth in CPU Demand Recommended Size.
If I see Capacity Remaining for a specific cluster, the CPU Configured is 460.27 GHz, total buffer is 20% so Usable Capacity is 372.82 GHz. Demand Peak Value is 496.79 Ghz, the case is that Recommended Size is up to 1,012.01 GHz (200% of peak value).
I can see that there was a significant growth of CPU/Demand/Recommended Size(Cores) from one day to another but there was no real CPU Demand growth in that cluster, so what can make that Recommended Size change so drastically?
There are no Projects that could be affecting calculations.
I've checked other environments and found that is not uncommon that Recommended Size doubles Demand Peak Value.
Any idea?
Thanks!
Santiago,.
How to monitor services running on Guest OS
Hi,
is there a way to find what services are running on Guest OS based on time period [like past and current]
for example:
I would like to know what services are running in past[Sep. 24th 2017 at 2:00 PM] on machine-25 [which is running win10 as Guest OS]
or
I would like to know what services are running currently on machine-25 [which is running win10 as Guest OS]
I am using latest version of vROps 6.6.1!
Thank you,
Pkmr.
